Business savvy and cost-effective: ENSafrica’s IP team recognised for excellence

7 March 2023

It’s been a period of significant growth and progress for ENSafrica’s IP team over the last few months. In addition to receiving outstanding rankings, we have enhanced our capabilities with the addition of new team members.

We were recently given top recognition by being ranked gold tier in the 2023 World Trademark Review’s WTR1000, one of the most reputable rankings in the field of IP law.

Head of ENSafrica IP, Gaelyn Scott, was recognised in the gold tier in the enforcement category.  Delene Bertasso and Waldo Steyn were recognised in the same category. Gaelyn and Waldo were also listed in the prosecution and strategy category, along with Ilse du PlessisManisha Bugwandeen-Doorasamy and Rowan Forster. Waldo also received recognition in the transactions category.

The WTR1000 had the following to say about some members of the team:

  • Gaelyn Scott: “expertly evaluates challenges before delivering her assessment and the effectiveness of her advice is demonstrated by the number of successes her clients have”.
  • Ilse du Plessis: “Ilse does not disappoint and is consistent in her delivery of sound counsel.”
  • Rowan Forster: “Rowan is the most sought-after adviser in South Africa. He is readily available, coordinates his team extremely well, and achieves the best outcomes.”
  • Delene Bertasso: “open-minded approach has time and time again generated great results. Delene possesses a special talent for explaining even the most complex situations to those without a legal background. She is meticulous in her execution and brings exceptional clarity to a variety of trademark issues.”

In addition, the team was also recently included in Chambers’ recently published 2023 Global Guide. Individually, Gaelyn Scott is once again ranked Band 1 and Ilse du Plessis, and Waldo Steyn are also ranked.

Chambers is a highly regarded legal ranking publication that has been assessing and ranking the best lawyers and law firms around the world for over 30 years. The annual rankings are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and comprehensive in the legal industry, and they are based on in-depth research and analysis, including client feedback and interviews with lawyers and law firms.

To be included in this year’s rankings is a significant achievement and recognition of a law firm’s excellence and expertise. Being ranked in the top tier or “Band 1” is particularly prestigious and signifies that the individual or law firm is considered to be among the very best in their field.

We would like to thank our clients for putting their trust in us for all their IP needs.

A world-class IP team with a real African footprint, providing business savvy expertise in a cost-effective manner.
